Art Cloth is a new art form: Whole lengths of cloth that have been dyed and creatively developed with layered surface design techniques. Unlike a traditional wall hanging with a single visual focus, Art Cloth may have multiple points of interest along its length. The techniques used to create Art Cloth draw from the whole world of ancient and modern skilled textile traditions: hand dyeing, shibori, batik, silk screening, block printing, etc. A single piece may combine up to 20 different processes - all while enhancing the very tactile qualities of cloth. |
